 Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial: Biafra Group To Close Nigeria/Cameroon Borders Apro-Biafra group, the Biafra Nations League (BNL) has ordered the closure of borders between Nigeria and Southern Cameroon, in solidarity with the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.   This comes ahead of Thursday, October 21 when Kanu’s trial will resume. The group in a statement by its National Leader, Princewill Richards said the shutdown will begin from Tuesday, October 19 and last till Friday 22. It is expected to affect the borders between Cameroon and Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Bakassi Peninsula. In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB denied releasing any statement declaring a sit-at-home.  Police Kill Two Unknown Gunmen Who Masterminded Imo Prison Break The Imo State police command said it has killed two suspected masterminds of the Owerri prison break which led to the escape of about 1,800 inmates on April 5, 2021. The assailants who reportedly arrived in buses carrying rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns and rifles, were said to have also attacked the police headquarters in the state.   The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised the alarm over the use of formalin to preserve frozen poultry products, warning Nigerians to avoid patronizing such products. NAFDAC’s spokesman, Dr Abubakar Jimoh, in Abuja said that some unscrupulous business persons were using formalin to preserve poultry products, particularly chicken and turkey for a longer life span.  Jimoh, who explained that formalin was capable of preserving products for weeks before getting to consumers, warned of the danger in patronizing businesses who smuggle poultry products into the country. “NAFDAC is alerting Nigerians about this practice. There are enough poultry products in the country than to resort to frozen chicken smuggled in, despite the existing government’s ban,”  he said.
